It is that time of year again. After a long and tumultuous bout of winter melts and refreezes coupled with the unpredictability of a very stormy spring I find myself dealing with quite a number of very seriously matted dogs. This little Bichon/ShihTzu X was the most difficult to date. I was able to use a #10 blade and a #15 blade on the body, ears, and tail but the legs required a #40 blade to get under the crusted matting. It was matted “every where”…even had lumpy matts coming out of the inner ear that gave the appearance of extra ears. I took this photo upon starting the shave off along its back to show the amount of matting as best as I could.
